boys by the pool
i only have eyes for boys
by the pool their bodies
broken by water
scenting chlorine
dilates my nostrils till all
of my senses turn eyes
to the boys
breaking
slashed into shatters by surfaces
breaking
splintered blue-blooded unmoved and
beyond
my boys seem singing
sticky drops of hallelujah
smearing roadmaps down my cheeks
into cerulean grit
my mouth breathes in backstroke
handprints on my breastbone like skippers
in flight
by the pool
flutter like boys
in my eyes
by the pool
my eyes for the boys have eyes
of their own
